PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Voting is underway to select the permanent location of the Philadelphia Portal.
The two locations voters can choose from are the courtyard at City Hall and the original LOVE Park location.
"So we now ask you, the people of Philadelphia, to go to voteportals.org and select your location so we can collectively make this decision and showcase to the world what Philadelphia is made of with its creativity, its love, its passion and its interest in providing a better place for all of us,” said director of the Portal organization Joseph Callahan.
The 8-foot-tall, circular art installation connects Philadelphia with cities around the globe through 24-hour video streams. It came to the city in October and closed in February after a couple of vandalism incidents but went back online in March.
The Portal's current location is at 16th Street and JFK Boulevard. The new location is expected to be announced next week.
Callahan says the new location will be where they host the World Day of Dance on April 29, where they “will be dancing sunrise to sunset."
