PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A woman died Friday after falling onto the tracks and being struck by a northbound train at Lombard-South Station.
A SEPTA spokesperson told KYW it happened just before 3:30 p.m., right as the train was pulling in. The woman was pronounced about 20 minutes later.
SEPTA’s Broad Street Line was closed in both directions from its Walnut-Locust Station to NRG Station for a little more than an hour following the incident.
An investigation is ongoing and authorities are reviewing security camera footage to determine how the woman fell. They do not believe anyone else was involved.
