PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A man in Peru has been charged with making hoax threats to school districts in Pennsylvania.

According to the U.S. Justice Department, 33-year-old Eddie Núñez Santos approached young girls on a gaming platform, posing as a teenage boy named Lucas. Authorities say he asked the girls to send him sexually explicit photographs. When the girls refused, he threatened to kill them and blow up their schools.

Between Sept. 15 and 21, 24 school districts in Pennsylvania received threats. Perkiomen Valley School District in Montgomery County dismissed classes early on Sept. 21 because of multiple threats.

The DOJ said Núñez Santos made more than 150 threats in all, and not only to schools. Investigators say he threatened synagogues, airports, hospitals and a shopping mall.

Authorities say he made threats to institutions in four other states, including New York, Connecticut, Arizona and Alaska.

Núñez Santos, a Peruvian national, was arrested on Sept. 26 in Lima, Peru. In addition to the threats, he is charged with attempting to sexually exploit a child and attempting to receive child pornography.
