PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Crews were putting the final touches together along the parade route and at the Art Museum on Thursday night, as the city awaited the formal celebration of the Eagles’ Super Bowl LIX victory. Some fans decided to camp out overnight and brave the winter temperatures to get the best possible views of the triumphant NFL champions.

Everything looked to be in order, just hours before the celebration. City workers and contractors were hauling dozens and dozens of portable toilets to the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, setting up safety barriers, sound equipment and enormous screens along the parade route. Banners flowed gently in the evening breeze, and cutouts of players on the “Rocky” steps stood firm against the elements.

And against the backdrop of the iconic Philadelphia Museum of Art, bathed in a lush green light, some brave souls were already lined up at the barrier, ready to watch their Eagles hold up the Lombardi Trophy once again in front of an adoring crowd.

“We just love it because we bleed green. We out here early to see front row,” said Diashon Sanders.

“Out here early” may be the understatement of the century. Diashon, his brother, and his mom were out in front of the steps since Thursday afternoon, in order to get the best view  possible.

His brother, Eric McClellan, says he's ready to celebrate with an estimated crowd of 1 million-plus.

“This is gonna bring the whole city out, man,” McClellan said. “When the Eagles win, the whole city get together as one, man. Everybody just be so happy, celebrating the win together. That's how it's supposed to be.

Their mom, Lisa Sanders, is also excited, as a diehard Eagles fan.

“I'm looking forward to seeing them pull up so I can scream and let them know how much we love them,” she said. “We really needed this.”

And who could deny that? The Super Bowl win is expected to bring the city out for a great day.

“I got here this afternoon for tomorrow afternoon's remarks on the steps of the Art Museum. And really this is a family affair,” said Chris Kingston, who came up from North Carolina with his son. “I'm just super excited to experience this. It's going to be incredible.”

For his son, Michael, it’s been one heck of a week.

“Oh, it's been pretty crazy. Like, going to school and stuff, and then just knowing I'm gonna be here in Philly watching the parade,” Michael said. “It's great. It's grand.”

The Kingstons met up with Chris’ niece and her family so they could all take in the scene together.

“I'm excited to see what it's like, because I've never experienced this before. And I'm excited to see the players,” said Kingston’s niece, Kennedy Di Tomaso.

There was plenty of room for everyone Thursday night, but that won’t be the case on Friday, as crowds file in and the fans crush toward the Art Museum. There are traffic and parking restrictions. Many streets are closed. And all those details, and everything else you need to know, are here.
