PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A Philadelphia father accused of abusing his children has pleaded guilty to some of the charges.
Paul Weber, 31, admitted to locking his 6-year-old son who has autism in a dog cage several times a day, and sometimes at night, leaving him in there naked with only a blanket and pillow, and to neglecting his 3- and 5-year-olds.
Police discovered the children after getting a 911 call to Glenview Street in Tacony on March 23 for a person screaming. When they arrived, they found the 3- and 5-year-olds wandering around outside, partially dressed and crying.
During a later interview with the younger children, they told investigators Weber would hit them.
The 31-year-old pleaded guilty to endangering the welfare of a child, assault and false imprisonmen, and remains behind bars.
Michelle Campbell, 30, who was the mother of at least one of the children, also lived at the property. She pleaded guilty in July to reckless endangerment and endangering the welfare of children.
Campbell remains out on bond, under house arrest.
Separate sentencing hearings are scheduled for both defendants in December.
