PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Drivers taking the Schuylkill Expressway north on I-76 westbound toward Center City encountered traffic issues due to a closure of the normally-busy freeway Thursday afternoon.
Law enforcement closed the westbound lanes of I-76 at about 1:30 p.m. with drivers being asked to get off at the South Street or Market Street exits. Traffic was re-opened at about 3 p.m.
KYW Newsradio Traffic on the Twos reporter Stevie Reese said that a car carrier was delivering a bunch of crushed cars, and it got stuck under 30th Street Station. The closure came so that crews could remove the vehicles and inspect the bridge.
