
PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A Philadelphia man who admitted to striking and killing a beloved neighbor as he fled from police for rape was sentenced in her death.
Raheem Geathers will spend six to 12 years in prison, after admitting to killing Dorothy Wright back in May of 2019 while fleeing from police on a rape charge.
Wright was on the sidewalk of her block near 7th and Master streets, and when officers went to arrest him on a warrant, he sped away, jumping the sidewalk and killing 63-year-old Wright.
Geathers pleaded guilty to homicide by vehicle and accident involving death, and is still awaiting trial on his rape case.
