Original story follows:

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A Philadelphia police officer was taken to a hospital in stable condition after she was struck in a hit-and-run car crash by a driver who was allegedly driving under the influence, authorities said Wednesday night.

Police arrested 41-year-old Terrell Lee less than a mile away after the crash, which happened at about 8 p.m. near the corner of Torresdale and Unruh avenues in the Tacony section of Northeast Philadelphia.

According to police, Lee's car swerved into the officer, then went northeast on Torresdale Avenue, going through at least one red light.

Law enforcement said they found the vehicle near the corner of Cottman and Torresdale avenues. Lee allegedly left his car there and walked away, but police said they apprehended him.

According to Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small, the suspect took a breathalyzer test shortly after the crash. He was later charged with DUI and related offenses.
