PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A man incarcerated at Philadelphia's Federal Detention Center has been convicted for conspiring to smuggle contraband into the facility.
Anthony Robinson, also known as "Slick," helped two of his fellow inmates smuggle in cocaine, Suboxone, methamphetamine, and marijuana.
The scheme was pulled off by arranging drop-offs at the prison with his contraband cell phone.
The three inmates were caught in April 2020 when FDC staff watched a man in the act, attaching items to a line outside of the detention center.
Security captured the line being pulled up the side of the center building into a prison cell.
The men in that cell have been charged and convicted of possessing contraband while imprisoned.
"He couldn’t help himself and committed another crime by smuggling contraband into the facility," Acting U.S. Attorney Jennifer Arbittier Williams said of Robinson. "He will now face even more time behind bars."
