PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia Sheriff Rochelle Bilal has announced plans to reorganize and restructure the Sheriff’s Office after years of criticism.
On the office’s website, Bilal details some of those changes, including an “undersheriff” to “oversee daily operations,” a new compliance attorney and sheriff sale technician position, and a reorganization and upgrades of the Real Estate Division, which handles deeds.
As part of that restructuring, Bilal said there will be a “deed tracking system,” which will help track deeds through sheriff sales and allow for transparency.
She said the office will give updates throughout the rest of the year as to how this new restructuring is taking shape.
