PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Five days after the biggest storm in a decade, some small city streets still haven’t been plowed. And, some that have been plowed are still a mess, with piles of snow blocking lanes.
The Streets Department said more than 1,000 city staff and contractors are involved in the cleanup.
Carlton Williams, director of the city’s Office of Clean and Green Initiatives, is asking residents to call 311 to help them figure out where to plow next.
“We get those complaints, we put them on a map, and we route those areas so that those complaints can be addressed in the order in which they were received,” he said.
One of the ZIP codes that happens to have the fewest complaints is Mount Airy, where Mayor Cherelle Parker lives. However, Williams said the city serves all neighborhoods simultaneously.
