PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Soccer fans are taking over the city for the France-Iraq World Cup match in South Philadelphia on Monday, but evening thunderstorms could impact the game.

Severe thunderstorms are in the forecast Monday afternoon, between 3 and 9 p.m., according to AccuWeather. The storms could bring damaging winds, lightning and hail.

A couple of showers and thunderstorms late at night could also impact post-match festivities.

If lightning strikes within 8 miles of the stadium, fans must evacuate to the main concourse, according to FIFA rules, where they must wait at least 30 minutes before the game can restart.

Fans attending the game inside Lincoln Financial Field (Philadelphia Stadium) cannot bring umbrellas, but ponchos are allowed.

The FIFA Fan Festival at Lemon Hill is a rain-or-shine event, but organizers said dangerous storms may lead to evacuations, too.

The France-Iraq match kicks off at 5 p.m.
