PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — For the second season in a row, the Phillies have surpassed 3 million fans in attendance at Citizens Bank Park. This year’s 3 millionth fan — in this case, fans — were the Spitko family from Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania.

When Tom, Laura and their children — 10-year-old Savannah and 7-year-old Trey — walked into Citizens Bank Park at about 5:20 p.m. before Tuesday’s 9-4 win over the Tampa Bay Rays, they were surprised by a flock of big balloons and confetti to let them know they were the 3 millionth fans of 2024.

Tom called it a beautiful recognition courtesy of their favorite baseball team, and Laura added it was special that all four of them were there together. Savannah’s favorite player is Nick Castellanos and Trey’s is Trea Turner, who they got to watch up close. Longtime Phillies ticket executive John Weber surprised them with a ticket upgrade to the CP Rankin Club behind home plate. The kids also received prize packs.

Then, once the game was underway, Phillies managing partner and CEO John Middleton visited them and presented them tickets to Fan Appreciation Night later this month, as well as tickets to next season’s home opener.

Before the game, manager Rob Thomson reflected on reaching the 3 million mark for the second season in a row:

Heading into Wednesday night, the Phils have an outstanding home record of 49-25.
