PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) -- Authorities are searching for a young man they say sexually assaulted a 14-year-old girl looking for a ride. Surveillance video captured the actions that led to the alleged assault.
Police say the girl met the man, believed to be in his 20s or late teens, at the Sunoco station at Frankford and Allegheny avenues last Tuesday around 1 a.m., as she was looking for a ride to her aunt’s house.
In surveillance video, the pair is seen walking a few blocks to Frankford Avenue and Clearfield Street, where detectives say the man told the girl to get into his car. That is where they say he sexually assaulted her.
The suspect looks to be wearing an orange hat and has short, curly, dark hair.
Officials did not have information about the type of car he was driving.
Anyone with information is urged to call police.
