PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The Philadelphia School District is ordering principals to postpone or move graduation ceremonies indoors for the rest of this week because of the possibility of severe weather.
It’s yet another change in plans for high school seniors.
Because of extreme heat and possible thunderstorms in the forecast, the school district is telling principals not to have outdoor graduations on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday.
A spokeswoman for the district says principals are being asked to choose from three options:
- Postpone graduation to a rain date
- Move the ceremony indoors where it can be held with social distancing
- Hold a virtual ceremony
Principals will make decisions for their individual schools and then notify families.
