PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Another Philadelphia elementary school is temporarily closed because of an outbreak of coronavirus cases among students and staff.

Edward Gideon School in North Philadelphia will be closed for two weeks, through April 11.

In a letter to students and staff, Principal Shauneille Taylor says multiple positive cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed at the school.

Parents of any child who shared a classroom with a student or staff member who tested positive are being contacted. Officials want those children to be quarantined.

Taylor says all students are expected to participate in remote learning while the building is closed.

Gideon is the second school to close since the School District of Philadelphia reopened for some in-person learning earlier this month.

Mayfair Elementary remains closed until next week because of an outbreak of COVID-19 cases there.
