PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The latest JD Power airport rankings are out, and for the sixth consecutive year, Philadelphia International Airport is at the bottom of the list.
Just as it did in the previous five years, PHL ranked last among similarly sized airports in JD Power’s new satisfaction survey.
The airport did score better than last year, though, after modernizing restrooms, adding device chargers to seating areas, and increasing the variety of airport restaurants.
“As far as things that improved, they did go up in most categories,” said JD Power’s Michael Taylor. “But the biggest thing for Philadelphia is they really need some new buildings.”
Philly International is 86 years old, and its holding areas are too small for today’s larger aircraft, Taylor noted.
“You can’t make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear, and you can’t make a fabulous, modern airport out of something that’s 86 years old.”
