CHERRY HILL, N.J. (KYW Newsradio) — Singing Valentines are pretty old school these days, but still very romantic. It’s why the Pine Barons Chorus is offering to perform them so people can do something special for their loved ones this Valentine’s Day.
The Pine Barons Quartet is part of the Cherry Hill chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society. Four quartets are scheduled to go out and grace people with their swoon-worthy dulcet tones.
Quartet member Eric Herr called the Singing Valentines “a nice surprise.”
“A unique gift, for sure, with two songs, a long stem rose, a box of chocolates, a personalized card, no less,” he said.
The Valentine also includes two tickets to the chorus’ spring show, which Herr said is usually in April.
Lead singer and chorus president John Tsigounis said the Singing Valentines are always a hit.
“Lot of fun, mostly couples. Some guys try and do it in front of their face,” he said. “It's just so positive, and it exposes people that normally wouldn't know what a barbershop quartet is.”
The Pine Barons are one of several Barbershop Harmony Society groups in the tri-state area taking part in the Singing Valentines promotion on Feb. 13, 14 and 15.
More information on the chorus can be found on its website.
