PLYMOUTH TOWNSHIP, P.A. (KYW Newsradio) — A woman and her kids had to hide in the bathroom of their Plymouth Township home on Monday as a man broke in and stole several items.
Police in Plymouth Township said the woman called 911 around 1:45 p.m., and said a man was banging on the front and then side door of her home on Arch Road near Oxford Road.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, the man smashed a window on the side door and entered the house as she was on the phone with 911. Police said she stayed on the phone with the 911 dispatcher as she and her kids locked themselves in a bathroom of the home.
When officers arrived at the scene, they saw 61-year-old Juan Medina emerge from a side door of the home, and he was taken into custody. Police said as they searched Medina, they found a bag of change taken from the home, along with several other items, including things taken from a neighbor’s SUV.
Officials are asking residents along Arch Road to check their surveillance video and to contact them if anything is missing from their cars or homes.
Medina has no known address and is charged with burglary and criminal trespass.
