PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Police say a 14-year-old boy was shot dead on a SEPTA train platform in West Philadelphia on Saturday.
SEPTA recently brought on a new chief of Transit Police, and the agency says they are working with the Philadelphia Police Department to find the person responsible.
According to authorities, it happened at the 52nd Street Market-Frankford Line station, on the westbound platform, just after 2 p.m.
The teen was shot once in the chest and in the arm. He was taken to Penn Presbyterian Hospital, and he was pronounced dead just before 3 p.m.
People in the neighborhood spoke to NBC10, saying the level of violence is an ongoing problem.
"I don't see nothing changing. Everyone is the same. People getting killed. Kids getting killed. Adults getting killed. There's no police. No septa police. No city police, none," said one.
Officials say the shooting, which was caught on camera, was done by another male wearing a ski mask and a hoodie, and he is currently on the loose.
Police have yet to make an arrest.
This is the third shooting in that area in the last three months.
