PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia police broke up another large crowd of teens Monday night at Penn’s Landing.

They say just before 7 p.m. police got word of an increased presence around the area. Fights reportedly broke out and additional resources were requested to assist with the situation.

While attempting to diffuse the situation, police say there were reports of gunshots at 100 South Front Street a little after 8 p.m. There is no word of injuries but officers did locate two shell casings.

Whether or not the two incidents are related is not yet known.

Police also said that some of the teens were seen jumping on the windshields of cars in the area – three of which were vandalized.

The crowds dispersed by 11 p.m.

The police department says they will continue to monitor the area. And, while large crowds are not expected tonight, there will be an increased police presence in the area.

Last month, police had to break up two separate crowds of teens – one on Easter weekend near the stadiums in South Philly where one person was arrested; the other, just two days before near City Hall where a police officer was injured.
