PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Police found a man shot dead inside a Northeast Philadelphia home that contained drugs Tuesday night.

Chief Inspector Scott Small said police arrived at the home on Colgate Street, near Benner Street, in the Crescentville neighborhood around 6:30 p.m. and found a strange sight.

“When police arrived on location, they covered the front and rear of the property. When they looked into the rear of the property, there was an open door. They could see that there was a gun on a pool table and what appeared to be a person lying on the living room floor. What’s unusual is our victim had his face covered and was also wearing gloves,” Small said.

Police waited for SWAT to arrive before combing through the rest of the house.

Small said the victim was shot at least once in the head.

Officials believe the man was in his 20s. He has not been identified. It’s unclear whether he lived in the home.

Police also found drugs and drug paraphernalia in the home, so it is being investigated as a possible narcotic-related homicide.
