PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia police have identified the man they say hit and killed a 60-year-old deaf man with his car last week.
Investigators said 44-year-old Edward Prince was at the wheel of a dark blue 2003 GMC Envoy Wednesday night that struck Roberto Velez while he was crossing the street at 2nd and Ontario streets in the city's Harrowgate neighborhood.
The vehicle was originally thought to be a white Jeep, before being identified by surveillance video as a blue GMC SUV, previously believed to be a Yukon. It struck Velez with enough force to knock him out of his shoes.
Prince is wanted on charges of vehicular homicide, involuntary manslaughter and other charges. He also uses the name "Jamil Smith," according to a police spokeswoman. Authorities said Prince may be armed.

This was Philadelphia's fifth fatal hit-and-run of the year.
Police have asked anyone with information to call 215-686-TIPS or dial 911.
