Police investigating gunfire at Lehigh Valley Mall

WHITEHALL, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — A trip to the Lehigh Valley Mall turned into a nightmare Saturday evening as gunfire erupted.

Police are looking for the person who fired shots and sent people ducking for cover around 5 p.m.

"Officers that responded did not locate any victims," said Whitehall Township Police Chief Michael Marks. "There are no reports of any victims of any gunshots at this moment."

Police said the shots were fired near Modell's Sporting Goods.

Many customers throughout the mall were ushered into stores, where employees locked the doors and ushered them into storage rooms and back closets to keep them safe.

"Three shots fired," Jason Malick told NBC 10. He, among others, was able to get a cell phone video of the incident.

"And we're right at the door as I hear 'pop, pop, pop,'" he recalled. "Everybody started running, screaming shots, guns, I mean it was like a stampede. Crazy."

Anthony Rodriguez said he was outside, while his family was inside.

"You know that's my kids and my wife, so either they were coming out or I was going in. One or the other," he said.

SWAT officers searched the empty floors, but found nothing.

Investigators are looking for any additional cell phone videos that may have been taken. they are also looking at surveillance video.
