CHERRY HILL, N.J. (KYW Newsradio) — Police in Cherry Hill are searching for two men they say robbed a jewelry store at gunpoint on Friday.
Authorities say it happened around 10:40 a.m. at the Philly Diamond Connection kiosk inside the Cherry Hill Mall. Employee Luis Hernandez said two armed men held him and the owner at gunpoint while emptying the safe.
“Very scary. They have the gun straight to my face,” he recalled. “They came in and took whatever they took, but no one was hurt at the end of the day. That's what really matters.”
The owner — who prefers to be known only by her first name, Shirit — says her staff and her business are resilient.
“People came and they wanted to make sure we were okay. And we are and this week is Valentine's Day,” she said. “We're hustling, we're getting ready and we're here.”
Both men were seen in surveillance video wearing dark hooded sweatshirts and masks that partially covered their faces. One of the suspects was described as medium-complected and thin. They fled the mall in a black SUV with no license plates, headed eastbound on Church Road.
