Man arrested after slashing tire of PGW vehicle in West Philly, police say

Authorities say Carnell Wilder allegedly asked PGW employee 'Why aren't you striking?' before vandalizing their vehicle

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A man is under arrest after police said he vandalized a Philadelphia Gas Works vehicle by slashing a tire.

According to authorities, it was around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday when Carnell Wilder, 59, approached a PGW employee operating a digger loader on Ford Road in West Philadelphia.

Police said Wilder then asked him, “Why aren’t you striking?" He then pulled out a knife and slashed the rear tire of the loader.

Wilder injured his hand while damaging the tire. He was taken to a hospital for treatment and was eventually placed in police custody. He has been charged with possessing an instrument of crime, criminal mischief, and institutional vandalism.
