MILLVILLE, N.J. (KYW Newsradio) — A man and a woman from Millville, Cumberland County, have been arrested after allegedly firing on officers during a traffic stop Tuesday night.
Authorities told our news partners from NBC10 that 39-year-old Frances Martin and 42-year-old James Zigler III fled a traffic stop at the intersection of Fourth and Sassafras streets around 6:45 p.m.
Police said Zigler, who was a passenger in the vehicle, provided false information before exiting the car and running from officers. Before getting away, Zigler allegedly pulled out a gun and fired four shots at police.
Officers took cover behind nearby vehicles, and no injuries were reported.
Following an investigation, police located Zigler and took him into custody. He has been charged with attempted murder, resisting arrest, multiple firearm violations and related offenses.
Martin was also arrested and charged with obstruction, and has been released.
