NJ officer in police vehicle fatally hit man on White Horse Pike, officials say

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A man in Camden County died after he was hit by a car driven by an on-duty police officer early Thanksgiving morning, officials said.

According to the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office, a Waterford police officer was driving a department car and hit the man on White Horse Pike in Atco.

The man was pronounced dead around 2:20 a.m.

The New Jersey Attorney General’s Office has not released the identities of the victim or the officer.

Under New Jersey state law, the AG’s office must investigate any death that occurred during an encounter with law enforcement.
