PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Police shot and killed a teenager in Wilmington, Delaware, Wednesday night.
It happened around 11 p.m. at 24th and Jessup streets.
Police said officers were there monitoring a large gathering when a 19-year-old walked out of a house and pointed a gun at the crowd.
He ran off but police caught up with him. Investigators said an officer engaged and discharged their weapon, striking him. He was taken to the hospital, where he died a short time later.
Police said he had a loaded handgun on him.
The officer was not hurt.
