Teenager stabs classmate at North Philly school, police say

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Police say a teenage boy stabbed a classmate on Wednesday at a private school in North Philadelphia.

According to authorities, it happened around 9:15 a.m. at the Community Council Learning Academy, a private school for children with behavioral challenges.

A 13-year-old boy suffered what police call "superficial" stab wounds to his left arm. Medics responded, but the boy didn't need further treatment.

A 14-year-old boy was taken into custody and police say a weapon was recovered.

The school was briefly placed under lockdown after the incident. It has since been lifted.
