PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Officials in New Jersey said law enforcement responded to emailed bomb threats made to several polling places Tuesday morning but found no credible threats.

Attorney General Matt Platkin said the threats were made at polling locations in seven northern counties on Election Day, including Bergen, Essex, Mercer, Middlesex, Monmouth, Ocean and Passaic counties.

Platkin said police “worked swiftly to secure these polling locations,” and many have already reopened to voters. Impacted voters were redirected to nearby polling stations.

“Voters should continue to have confidence that they can cast their ballot without fear of intimidation, and we will continue to work tirelessly to ensure a free, fair, and secure election,” Platkin said in a statement. “Make no mistake: We will not tolerate any attempts to interfere with our elections, and we will swiftly hold accountable anyone who seeks to interfere with the safety or security of our electoral process.”

People are encouraged to report such suspicious activity to the New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness at 1-866-4-SAFE-NJ or at tips@njohsp.gov.
