PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Hosts at QVC will join SAG-AFTRA after a majority of them voted to unionize on Friday.
It comes about a month after the company’s digital and TV hosts presented management with a petition, asking for voluntary recognition of the union.
The group is comprised of 53 on-air hosts who sell clothes and other goods on QVC, HSN and various digital channels.
In the petition, the hosts expressed concern about QVC using AI to imitate their images, voices and likenesses without their consent. They also cited concerns about pay equity and transparency.
The West Chester-based company said it respects the vote of its hosts and will work with the union on next steps.
The vote also comes a week after a federal judge approved QVC’s reorganization plan to emerge from bankruptcy. It hopes that will happen sometime this summer.
