PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A man broke into a home in Rhawnhurst overnight, where a struggle ensued, and investigators said the suspect was shot and killed.
Police spent several hours going over the scene at an apartment on Griffith Street, near Algon Avenue. Police focused on what appeared to be a second-floor unit. The door, which is off to the side of the building, looked like it was pried open.
Just after 1 a.m. Monday, police said a man forced his way into the home. There was a struggle with someone inside, and the suspect was shot in the chest. He died at the hospital.
Police did not say who pulled the trigger and how many people were in the apartment when this all happened, but there are no reports of anyone else being hurt.
The Homicide Unit is investigating.
