PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — State troopers are investigating after three riders in a Lyft carjacked the driver at gunpoint over the weekend in Delaware.
The incident happened around 6:45 p.m. on July 4.
According to Delaware State Police, the Lyft driver picked up three masked suspects in Dover and drove them about 15 minutes south into Frederica. There, one of the riders pulled out a gun.
Investigators said the gunman ordered the driver out of his Toyota RAV4 near East Oak Street. A second suspect got into the driver’s seat, and the trio left in the stolen vehicle with the victim’s cellphone, police said.
The victim was not injured. He promptly reported the carjacking to the authorities.
The three suspects were masked and wearing hoods at the time.
