PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A rideshare driver has been arrested and charged in connection with a fatal hit and run in East Norriton last month.

The Montgomery County District Attorney's Office said 43-year-old Andy Nunez Vasquez of Philadelphia has been charged with a list of offenses including accidents involving death or injury and failure to stop/render aid.

Officials said the charges stemmed from an incident on Sept. 6, as 29-year-old Ricardo Baptiste of Drexel Hill was walking across the street at Germantown Pike and Whitehall Road in East Norriton. Vasquez, driving a white sedan, allegedly hit Baptiste and kept going. Baptiste was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Detectives utilized surveillance video from nearby properties, license plate readers and PennDOT records to locate the vehicle owned by Vasquez. Search warrants were obtained for Vasquez's cell phone and rideshare records that placed him at the scene at the time of the crash.

Leaving the scene where someone is killed carries a minimum term of three years in prison and a $2,500 fine.

Bail was set at 10% of $20,000, on the condition that Vasquez surrender his passport. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Nov. 2.
