PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A rideshare driver was shot and injured during an attempted robbery in North Philadelphia early Saturday morning.




Police said around 12:30 a.m., the 38-year-old driver was waiting to pick up a passenger at North 28th and Poplar streets when two people approached her car and tapped on the driver's side window with a small handgun.

She attempted to drive away, and that's when one of the suspects shot at the window. She was struck in the shoulder.

The suspects fled and are at large. Police describe them as being in their late teens to early 20s with slim builds. They were last seen wearing black clothing and masks.

Police took the driver to a nearby hospital, where she's listed in stable condition.
