PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Police are warning women to be vigilant when they go into or out of banks in Northeast Philadelphia. At least four women have been robbed near banks in the last two months, all of them in broad daylight.
Police told NBC10 that there have been at least four robberies:
- Aug. 5 at Castor Avenue and Hellerman Street (M&T Bank)
- Aug. 12 at Cottman Avenue and Horrocks Street (PNC Bank)
- Aug. 21 at Bustleton and Grant avenues (Bank of America)
- Sept. 14 at Cottman Avenue and Rutland Street (Citizens Bank)
In one incident, surveillance video shows two women walking toward a bank when a man pushes one of them and runs away with her cash.
Police are warning women not to carry envelopes or zippered bags, as that could signal that they’re carrying cash.
