PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — You've climbed the Art Museum steps and even taken a selfie with the statue of Sylvester Stallone. Now, you can hop on a bus and see some of the other Philadelphia sites where "Rocky" was filmed.
Running from Nov. 30 through Dec. 8 is the Rocky Bus Tour.
Passengers can board the Philly PHLASH bus at The Parkway Visitor Center and Rocky Shop next to the base of the Art Museum steps for a 90-minute tour of film locations from the “Rocky” movies. Among the stops is North Front Street near East Susquehanna Avenue in Kensington.
That's the location of the pet shop where Adrian worked.
The WeVenture tour guide said the mix-use building that is there now was once a real pet shop and one of the few places that both indoor and outdoor scenes were filmed — 95% of the interior scenes were shot on a Hollywood sound stage.
“Rocky” fans can also walk across the street to a craft brewery that was known as “Mighty Mick’s Gym” in the movies.
Other film locations passengers will see include Laurel Hill Cemetery and The Italian Market.
The bus tour starts in advance of Rocky Fest — a week of activities in Philadelphia that starts Dec. 3 to celebrate the release of “Rocky” 48 years ago. Tickets are $49 and $42 for senior citizens.
