PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — On June 25, the Philadelphia Orchestra and Ensemble Arts are hosting their 3rd annual free Pride Celebration and Concert, and one of Philly’s most popular drag queens of the moment will be a major part of the production.

Sapphira Cristál, a resident of the city and runner-up on season 16 of “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” will share hosting duties with Principal Guest Conductor Marin Alsop and sing alongside the orchestra.

Jeremy Rothman, chief programming officer of the Philadelphia Orchestra and Ensemble Arts, said the combo of the orchestra under Alsop’s guidance and alongside Cristál’s vocals will be “an absolute powerhouse.”

“Sapphira was enthusiastic to sing with the orchestra, one of the greatest orchestras in the world right here in Philly,” he continued.

Rothman also suggested getting tickets to the free concert as soon as possible. Tickets can be reserved now on philorch.org.
