PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Back in 2014, the Taney Dragons baseball team – led by Mo’ne Davis – was the toast of Philadelphia after an incredible ride to the Little League World Series.

Flashforward nearly a decade later, a member of that team is still playing baseball and starring in the Ivy League.

Scott Bandura is an outfielder for the Princeton Tigers and he is in the midst of a special season. The junior entered the weekend hitting over .400 on the season and over .500 in Ivy League play. He leads the team in runs scored and steals, and is second in home runs and RBI.

Last year, Bandura missed a lot of playing time because of a hamstring injury, so being able to come back this season healthy and ready to play has been huge, he said.

Between the Little and Ivy Leagues, Bandura also had success during his high school days, helping Springside Chestnut Hill Academy to a conference title.

And, while his focus is the Ivy League these days, those Taney Dragons memories are still close to his heart.

“We were such a tight knit group back then and I stuck together and played, played high school baseball with a pretty good number of people from that team too,” he said. “So we were just a really close group, and it was just a ton of fun to be able to share that experience with them.”

He says his time on the Taney Dragons helped prepare him for bigger moments.

“So I think it's been a huge help in my career to this point – just because, like, we went down to Georgia to open up this year, SEC team the opening weekend, Duke the week after that and just, really, no moment’s too big.”
