NEW JERSEY (KYW Newsradio) — A 27-year-old Somerset man is facing charges after officials say he convinced a boy to send nude photos and videos of himself for gift cards.
Police say Sebastian Romero contacted the victim in a chat room of an online gaming platform.
He arranged to meet the boy for sex and, when the boy didn't show up, Romero made threats to the boy's family.
Romero was taken into custody on Aug. 2.
An investigation revealed that Romero was aware of the victim’s age, and obtained personal information about the victim before offering to purchase nude photos and videos.
He is charged with multiple offenses, including sexual extortion and production of child pornography.
