PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Police have made a second arrest in Friday’s shooting at Dilworth Park outside of City Hall that injured three teens — one, critically.
Police say the shooting stemmed from an argument.
“It’s a lot of violence over picking on somebody’s brother,” said Deputy Commissioner Frank Vanore. “This developed into this big of a tragedy, and the individual that’s in the hospital is fighting for his life.”
A handful of shots rang out around 4:30 p.m. A 14-year-old was shot in the eye, and two others — a 15-and 14-year-old — were shot in the leg. The teen who was shot in the face is in critical condition.
“He had several surgeries. We believe he lost his eye,” Vanore said.
The 15-and 14-year-old are expected to be OK.
A 14-year-old was detained at the scene. Police say he is being charged as an adult with aggravated assault, conspiracy and related charges. On Wednesday, police served warrants at the homes of two other teen suspects and arrested a 14-year-old.
Police are still looking for that third suspect, another 14-year-old.
Anyone with information related to the shooting is asked to contact the police tipline at 215-686-TIPS.
