PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Sen. John Fetterman is recovering in a Pittsburgh hospital after he fell near his home in Braddock, Pennsylvania, on Thursday.

The senator’s office said he fell on his face after a bout of light-headedness during an early-morning walk.

Doctors later found he had a ventricular fibrillation flare-up that caused the light-headedness. A spokesperson said Fetterman is receiving routine observation at the hospital.

In a statement, Fetterman joked, “If you thought my face looked bad before, wait until you see it now!”

Fetterman's fellow U.S. Senator from Pennsylvania Dave McCormick said in a statement that he's reached out to Fetterman and his wife Dina has got in touch with Fetterman's wife Gisele after the senator's fall.

"John is a tough Pittsburgher and is already on the mend. We are thinking of him, Gisele, and their entire family – looking forward to seeing my good friend in the coming days,” he said.
