PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Delaware health officials say it's crucial for people 65 and older to get the COVID-19 vaccine if they haven't already.
On Tuesday, vaccine eligibility in the state will expand to anyone 50 and older.
"We really want to make sure our seniors are getting a last shot before demand increases significantly to get vaccinated," said Delaware Division of Public Health Director Dr. Karyl Rattay.
Older adults currently on the waitlist who haven't accepted their appointment invitations should do that now, she said. At least two were sent out to everyone 65 and older, if they signed up.
"If you are not on our waiting list, please go get on our waiting list because we are going to send out more invitations," Rattay added. "This is your last best chance."
More than two-thirds of older adults in Delaware have received at least one shot so far.
