PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The SEPTA board has approved the labor contracts with its city transit and suburban drivers, as well as Regional Rail engineers.
The contracts cover Transport Workers Union Local 234, SMART-TD Local 1594, and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen.
TWU Local 234 and SMART Local 1594 had already ratified the tentative two-year agreements, which averted strikes threatened by both unions. Both deals include annual 3.5% raises and increase pension payments for workers who retire during the two-year contract.
The board also approved a contract with the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen, representing Regional Rail engineers.
