PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Starting Wednesday, Radnor Township is ditching plastic bags.

The Radnor Township Board of Commissioners approved a single-use plastic carry-out bag ban last September. Retailers had about six months to use up their supply of plastic bags.

Retailers may, but are not required to, provide recyclable paper bags or sell reusable bags. Customers are encouraged to BYOB — bring your own bag — when shopping in Radnor.

Ten municipalities in Pennsylvania have already adopted plastic bag ordinances, including Philadelphia, West Chester, Haverford Township and Narberth.
