PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A charter boat hit a pier and began sinking on Monday near the Townsend Inlet Bridge, sending 22 people into the water, according to the Coast Guard.

They were aboard a Starfish Boats vessel, which is based out of Sea Isle City.

Officials said a good Samaritan helped get the passengers to safety by taking them to docks in Sea Isle.

There have been no reported injuries or related water pollution issues.

Starfish Boats shared on Facebook that the boat “does have damage and will be inoperable for some time.”
