SOUTH JERSEY (KYW Newsradio) — Former South Jersey Transportation Authority Commissioner Bryan Bush has pleaded guilty to obstruction for his role in a 2024 political retaliation scheme.
The New Jersey Attorney General’s Office said Bush conspired with the board vice chairman to withhold a payment to an engineering firm based in Mercer County for work it performed, as retribution for a perceived political slight, and then worked to cover it up.
Bush was facing multiple charges, but his guilty plea to fourth-degree obstruction will likely spare him jail time.
The charges centered on a text exchange between Bush and Vice Chairman Chris Milam, who wrote, “They cut South Jersey in Mercer County so we vote no” in regard to the payment to the firm.
Official misconduct, conspiracy and perjury charges are still pending against Milam, who has maintained his innocence.
