PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Organized youth sports are popular this time of year, ranging from baseball, softball, field hockey, lacrosse and basketball.
Adults can help organize their kids' teams and support them in other ways, but sometimes that can go too far. In some cases, adult competitiveness contributes to excess anxiety for the kids.
This is especially true if they focus too much on winning. When kids are left alone to play, they tend to pace themselves and slow down when tired, but overuse injuries can occur if organized sports upset the balance between participation and rest.
