SPRINGFIELD, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — There are only a couple of shopping days left before Christmas. If you haven't gotten the people you love the gifts you think they need, you’re in good company.

One of the last-minute shoppers out at the Springfield Mall in Delaware County on this last weekend before Christmas was Seagal. He was looking for gifts for his five brothers and his sister.

Spoiler alert:

“One of my brothers likes basketball, so I'm buying him some basketball shoes. And one of my other brothers likes football. I'm getting him some football cleats,” said Seagal.

For his sister?

“I'm getting her a Hello Kitty plushie. And my other brother, he likes to run. I'm getting him some shoes.”

More than 119 million people are traveling between this weekend and New Year's Day, according to AAA. That's more than the previous high in 2019.

It's also crunch time for shoppers, according to a survey from Axios that said about 40% of shoppers still needed to finish buying their holiday gifts heading into this weekend.

“Because I have a child going to college next year, they just decided to get simple things,” said Munerah Jones, out for some last-minute items for her daughters. “My children just opt to get simple things, phones, books, perfumes, some jewelry.”

Jones says the key to not raising your stress levels is to get in, get out, and get home.

The National Retail Federation estimates more than $979 billion will be spent this holiday season in Delaware County. Judging from the foot traffic at Springfield Mall, that tracks.
